Admissions

GENERAL ADMISSIONS: First Baptist School is a co-educational private Christian school dedicated to scholastic excellence and spiritual growth. It serves qualified students in three-year-old pre-school through the 8th grade. Our policy on admissions attempts to reflect the philosophy of our school. Each applicant is asked to visit and observe our school. We endeavor to enroll students who will exhibit the biblical values of showing care and concern for others in our school community as well as a demonstration of enthusiasm for the learning process. Students seeking admission are evaluated on the basis of their academic records, references, admission questionnaires, interviews and potential to perform satisfactorily at First Baptist School.

PREKINDERGARTEN AND KINDERGARTEN ADMISSIONS: Children entering the three-year-old program must be three years of age on or before September 30 and be "potty" trained/no diapers to be eligible for admittance in September of that year. Children entering the four-year-old program must be four years of age on or before September 30 to be eligible for admittance in the Fall. On entering kindergarten, the child must be five years of age on or before September 30 to be eligible for admittance in the Fall. Copies of the student's birth certificate and health and immunization records are required for prekindergarten and kindergarten applicants. K4 and K5 students are required to take an age appropriate entrance examination.

FIRST GRADE -EIGHTH GRADE ADMISSIONS: All students entering the first grade must be six years of age on or before September 30. All candidates for admission in grades one through eight are required to take an entrance examination. Transcripts are required for all applicants of grades one through eight. Parents are to deliver the Transfer Request Form to the proper school official. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible. Waiting lists occur in most grade levels after the initial acceptance.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES CHECKLIST: Keep this checklist and use it for your personal reference. It is the responsibility of the parent to be sure all application material is completed and received by the admissions office. The admissions process for your child cannot proceed until these materials are received. We need the following from you prior to consideration by the admissions committee.

  • Application for admission (Click Here to Download)
  • Application processing fee of $50. This is nonrefundable and is the only fee to be paid prior to admissions acceptance.
  • Copies of all standardized test scores and all prior report cards

STEPS IN THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS:

STEP ONE: Please call the office to schedule an appointment for a classroom and school tour.

STEP TWO: Submit a completed application for enrollment, copies of required records, and a nonrefundable application processing fee of $50 per student.

STEP THREE: Call the office to schedule an entrance exam and meet with the Administration.

STEP FOUR: The Admissions Committee will meet to evaluate the application. Admissions decisions are determined by the Committee's evaluation of several factors: the application for enrollment, previous school records, entrance examination scores, and our assessment of the student's ability to benefit from this educational environment. The Committee's decision is final. First Baptist School will notify you of the decision thereafter.

STEP FIVE: Following notification of acceptance, please submit the non-refundable entrance fee of $300 within 10 days.

STEP SIX: Complete the enrollment contract and return to the school with a non-refundable deposit of $350 per student. This deposit is credited to the annual tuition.
